Our Process

Banton Business & Legacy Law

The Planning Process

As a counseling based law firm, we strive to serve you as people, not as a file.  By focusing on your family’s hopes, dreams and aspirations, we are able to combine our legal expertise to create plans that serve your family not only today, but well into the future.  Our planning process typically includes the following meetings:

The Initial Consultation
We offer prospective estate planning, business planning, veterans benefits, asset protection and Medi-Cal clients a complimentary initial consultation.  During this meeting we will discuss your goals and discuss possible legal solutions.

The Design Meeting
During the design meeting, we will spend two to three hours with clients listening to their needs, plans and goals and design a plan with specific provisions and legal techniques to meet the goals of our clients. After the “design” of the plan, we will then begin the drafting and implementation of the plan.

Review and Sign the Documents
Approximately two weeks after the design meeting, we will hold a follow-up meeting to sign documents and begin implementation of the plan. This meeting may be quite lengthy, as we will thoroughly explain the planning documents to you.  We will also explain how to fund trusts and provide instructions on how to complete this process.

Ongoing Client Care
We do not consider the signing of the documents as the final part of a legal transaction. In fact, we strive to build lasting relationships with our clients.  We encourage our clients to call our office when they have a question concerning any aspect of their planning.

What Our Clients Say...

Angela Monko

Stephen Banton completed a trust for my family a couple of years ago, as well as for my mom. We have a special needs child, which spurred us on to get a special needs trust. I highly recommend Stephen Banton!

Karen Henselmeier

Steve helped us with updating my mothers Will and Trust. The process went smooth and easy. I mentioned Myra was a veteran and he helped us get another $1,100 a month  for her to pay toward the nursing home. That has helped to keep her where she is. At 97 a move is very difficult. We are using Steve to set up our Will and Trust also.
